The Manitoba government has launched the Safer Neighbourhoods, Safer Downtowns Public Safety Strategy, focusing on crime prevention and rehabilitation. Justice Minister Matt Wiebe emphasized, “To see real change, we must address crime and its causes.”
Key measures include:
✔ 12 new police officers dedicated to retail crime prevention.
✔ 2% funding increase for municipal law enforcement.
✔ New Centre for Justice in Dauphin for rehabilitation.
✔ Stronger impaired driving laws, developed with MADD.
✔ Expanded electronic monitoring outside Winnipeg.
✔ More mental health support, with 100 new workers.
✔ Youth Empowerment Summit to engage young leaders.
Leaders like Grand Chief Garrison Settee call it “true ReconciliACTION.” Deputy Chief Scot Halley sees it as “an important first step.”
At Singh Technical Services, we believe in proactive security solutions to complement these efforts. A safer Manitoba starts with strong communities and innovative security measures.
